We are very lucky to have two girls from the Rudolf – Steiner – Schule Remscheid in Germany doing work experience at the farm. Waldorf education, also known as Steiner education, is based on the educational philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, the founder of Anthroposophy. Its pedagogy emphasizes the role of imagination in learning, striving to integrate holistically the intellectual, practical, and artistic development of pupils.
This is what the girls say about coming to work at Gortbrack Organic Farm:
“We are from Germany and live near Cologne (Köln). We are in 9th Class in the Rudolf – Steiner – Schule Remscheid and we are 14 and 15 years old. In Class Nine everybody has to do work experience on an organic farm, so we chose Gortbrack Organic Farm in Kerry.
Up until now we have had a very nice time working on the farm. We help with all kind of things, like planting potatoes, feeding the animals and planting lettuce.
Altogether we will be here for three weeks.”
